The Thebaïd at the Museum of Santa Maria della Scala, scenes depicting stories of ancient hermits (first half of the 14th century).
Guided tour of the extraordinary Thebaïd cycle, discovered at the Museum of Santa Maria della Scala and recently recovered after lengthy and careful restoration.
The scenes depict stories of monks and hermits painted in the first half of the 1300s by Lippo Vanni, in the spaces of the Confraternity of the Virgin and the Disciplinati beneath the Vaults of the Hospital.
The visit will be accompanied by storytelling and readings from ancient texts on the Lives of the Fathers.
