Classic Siena tour

Every day (from April 25 to November 3): Guaranteed departure tour for individual tourists and families, to discover the most significant places in Siena. Entrance to the DUOMO and Piccolomini Library included in the tour ticket. The itinerary is particularly suitable for those visiting Siena for the first time and for those who want to rediscover the most significant places and traditions of one of the most important cities of the Italian Middle Ages, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our guided tour starts from Piazza Salimbeni, along Via Banchi di Sopra, next to the statue of Sallustio Bandini. We will walk through the streets with the most beautiful historic buildings such as Palazzo Salimbeni and Palazzo Tolomei. We will continue in the monumental Piazza del Campo, the pulsating heart of Sienese culture and extraordinary architectural scenery where the famous Palio di Siena takes place twice a year.

The tour will end inside the Duomo (the Cathedral), a jewel of Romanesque-Gothic architecture that contains among other works by Michelangelo, Donatello, Pinturicchio, and Bernini. In some weeks between June and October, it is possible to see entirely uncovered the “most beautiful floor that was ever made” as defined by Giorgio Vasari. On Sundays and Catholic holidays, the Cathedral is not visitable. Then we visit the splendid Santa Maria della Scala Museum, the city’s old hospital, a thousand-year-old compendium of art, history, hospitalization, care and daily life.
