(Maximum 3 hours duration)
A guided tour for those who wish to combine the discovery of the Amiata and the Abbadia San Salvatore, the most powerful Tuscan abbey of the Middle Ages, to a walk through the rolling hills of Tuscany. Our itinerary will start from the Abbey of San Salvatore, a strategic center which controlled the transit on the Via Francigena since the 9th century. La Badia has a very particular architectural structure, consisting of two facade towers, a high presbytery and a crypt from the “Longobard” era supported by finely sculpted columns. After discovering the history, features and secrets of the monumental Badia, the tour will resume its course towards Piancastagnaio, hamlet overlooking the Siena side with the monumental sturcture of the Rocca Aldobrandesca and its quaint medieval streets. Alternatively, it is also possible to continue for Santa Fiora, famous for the Robbiane terracottas of his parish church, or even visit the Garden of Daniel Spoerri.
