Siena is a UNESCO world heritage site and this itinerary takes the visitor through its most important sites to gain a general impression of the city. From the Basilica of Saint Dominic, where Saint Catherine relics have been revered for centuries, we go along the old Francigena road, the backbone of medieval Siena. We see the headquarters of Monte dei Paschi, the oldest bank in Europe, Tolomei square and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption which is a superb example of gothic architecture with rich art patrimony left by artists such as Michelangelo, Donatello, Bernini and Nicola and Giovanni Pisano. There is also a short visit to the Chiagiana Music Academy courtyard. The natural end to our itinerary is the famous Campo square. Its special shape encompasses the visitor thereby inviting him to memorise the experience of a journey through time.
