The Hermitage of San Leonardo al Lago
Built in 1119 immediately outside Siena, it became a Romanesque- Gothic church in the XIVth century when its style was completely changed. Its façade made of a round arch with a splay door is really remarkable. Inside, XIVth century frescoes dedicated to the Virgin Mary by Lippo Vanni, embellish its nave and two ails. The masterpiece of this church is to be found in its dining hall: a Quattrocento Crucifixion frescoed by Giovanni di Paolo.
