CHIANTI

Since the beginning of the Middle-Ages the people living in the Chianti area dedicated themselves to wine making. This border land followed the political clashes between Siena and Florence. In this period of time many fortified castles rose to be later changed into noble country houses and now into wine farms.
For what it concerns this area, we will  choose with you an itinerary- according to your needs-  among its many very well preserved villages, castles, Romanesque country churches or hamlets .
A visit to the beautiful wine-yards to taste the local wines is also included. All this makes the Chianti area one of the most well known and loved places all over the world.

Rediscovered villages
Vertine is one of the most extraordinary and suggestive Middle-Ages fortified hamlet. Some fragments of the walls with a semi-circular tower are still to be seen as well as a  remarkable and very tall building at the southern part of this little village.
San Gusmè  is one of the most typical places in the territory of the Berardenga. Maybe the only intact area of the Chianti. Its ancient structure with crested arches or its tiny, sloped little streets witness the Carolingian age of its castle
